The horary question astrologers get most about relationships is, ‘Is there a future in this relationship?’ Here, it’s expressed as, ‘Will he come back, and will we be good together?’

In the horary question I’m discussing here, the querent wants to know if her ex-boyfriend will come back to her and if their relationship will be better than it was. I will demonstrate how I analyze this kind of horary chart and the outcome of the question.

The background information, the context:

The querent was living with a man and his children in a serious relationship when he told her he needed to move out and get his life together. He told her he didn’t want to be in a relationship; he just wanted to focus on his job and his kids.

This was a shocking surprise to her, and she asked me the relationship horary question, ‘Will he come back, and will we be good?’

The relevant players in the chart:

The woman asking gets the first lord, Saturn (because Aquarius is on the first cusp), to represent her thinking/personality, Venus to represent her as a woman who wants a mate, and the Moon to represent her heart/feelings.

The 7th ruler, the Sun, represents the man she’s asking about (because Leo is on the 7th cusp), which is his thinking/feeling side, and him as a man who wants a mate. If the 7th ruler were a different planet, he would get the planet to represent his thinking/feeling side,

To see if he will come back and if they will be good together, we first need to see how his planets are ‘feeling’ about her planets. Depending on what that shows, we look for future contact between one of her planets and one of his.

The Table of Planetary Dignities

The Table of Planetary Dignities is central to horary astrology, especially for relationship questions. I won’t detail it in this video, but I’ll refer to it so you can see how it’s used.

In horary astrology, the Table of Planetary Dignities determines how the planets think and feel about each other.

How the planets representing the players feel about each other

The Sun is in the sign of Scorpio. Venus is in Detriment in Scorpio, meaning the Sun dislikes Venus. Scorpio is a ‘fixed’ sign, and the Sun is in the middle of the sign at 15 degrees, so it will feel this way about Venus for quite a long time.

Her ex either doesn’t like her as a woman or, more likely, doesn’t want to be in a long-term relationship with any woman to take care of other, more pressing issues in his life.

The dignities or receptions of the Sun show his true feelings

The Sun in Scorpio also intensely dislikes the Moon as the Moon is in the dignity of ‘fall’ in Scorpio. Since the Moon represents her heart and feelings, the Sun in Scorpio shows that he doesn’t like or doesn’t want to deal with her feelings.

The Moon in Virgo shows how she feels about his children’s treatment of her

The Moon represents her feelings in Virgo, a ‘loud-voiced’ sign, which means she was vocal about her feelings, probably about his children.

I say that because any planet in the sign of Virgo doesn’t like Jupiter, as Jupiter is in Detriment in Virgo. His 5th house represents his children. She told me they did not treat her well at all, so that is undoubtedly what the negative feelings she expressed were about and what he didn’t like or want to hear.

The answer to the Horary question

The dignity of the Sun is enough to show that he won’t return to her.

Often, one of the planets representing the 7th house person is retrograded or will go retrograde soon, showing that person is returning to the querent.

The Sun and the Moon never go retrograde. Since the Sun represents him, this is another indication that he won’t return to her.

Contact between their planets shows an event and or hidden feelings

A hidden contact (called the antiscia) between the Sun and the Ascendant shows that he still likes her as a person or friend.

The Moon will contact the Sun after it makes a trine aspect to Jupiter. Since I know they were in contact after the questioner asked this question, I know that Jupiter didn’t ‘prevent’ that contact from happening.

They got together again, not as romantic partners but as friends. So technically, he did come back, as shown by the aspect between their planets, but the receptions or dignities show that his feelings for her were no longer romantic.

Other upcoming events

We see Venus, the planet representing her as a woman, will change signs very soon and gain strength when it does. Venus is in detriment in Virgo but will soon occupy his own sign of Libra. A planet in its own sign is quite strong in horary astrology.

Usually, because Venus is on his second house cusp, this would indicate she wants his esteem, love, or affection, but because he owes her a substantial amount of money, I know that the money is what she will be focused on.

Saturn, the planet representing her thinking side, is in Pisces, where Venus is exalted, so this part of her is already focused on getting her money back.

The CONTEXT behind the question is paramount

If I didn’t know he owed her money, I would think it meant she was exalting herself as a woman (Venus is exalted in the sign of Pisces). This is why you need to get as much information as possible from the querent before you analyze a horary chart. The context of the unique situation helps to discern the correct meaning out of the many possible meanings.

Let me know if you have any questions about this analysis.
