What is Vedic Jaimini Astrology?

Historical writings in the Vedic scriptures record an intellectually and spiritually advanced civilization going back in human society to over 5,000 years ago. Called the Vedas, they are the oldest scriptures known to exist.

Vedic knowledge encompasses both material and spiritual understanding. Astrology, also known as “Jyotish,” The Science of Light, is part of the Vedic literature and is the original form of astrology, existing long ago in what is now known as the Indian subcontinent.

Two great astrological texts come from these ancient scriptures; one is the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and the Upadesa Sutras of Jaimini. These two texts are unique amongst all other astrological books in that they contain complete systems of scientific astrology. No other Jyotish texts available to us can boast of this — at best, some documents have a few incomplete pages on systematic techniques.

Jaimini techniques revolve around what you are, what you will become, both spiritually and materially, who you will have in your life, and the mark that your life will leave upon humanity. All of these issues are addressed much more accurately by Jaimini than by any other ancient astrologer.

These are the areas addressed:

Career

Living in an era where career possibilities are so plentiful as to be overwhelming, having some guidance as to what career you are most suited for and would be the most successful is a real service. Being able to focus on one thing at a time is more likely to result in career success than never really being sure what to do and so never fully committing to anything.

Capability

The more capable you are, the more possibility for success, and the harder it s to replace.

Passion

Are you more susceptible to having affairs than most people? Is your spouse? Jaimini techniques clearly show if you need to be more careful than other people or if marriage and fidelity are just not for you.

Dharma

Your primary purpose or what aspects you will be dealing with the majority of your life, and whether or not you have support in your dharma or if you are someone who’s dharma is outside of society’s approval.

Description of the Spouse

Why you are attracted to certain people, and if your spouse will be beautiful, or have particular health problems.

Marriage

Whether you are likely to marry and marry more than once, or if you will be a renunciate and focus on your spiritual development. Marriage is not an automatic path for everyone!

Courage and Will

Can you persist despite obstacles, delays, and opposition, or do you accept everything without a fight? There are merits and problems with each way of being, but knowing which one you are can help you to decide if self-employment is an option.

Liberation and Spiritual Development

Where you are in the cycles of birth and death, the chart also shows the best way to get to final liberation and the best spiritual practice for the fastest growth.

Fame

Fame is about your reputation. Whether or not you are respected and widely known, by the entire world or just in your corner of it.

Gain and Loss of Wealth

Whether you continually gain in wealth, and from what sources, or have a lot of expenses.

Success and Accomplishment

Are you here this time around to accomplish something in the world, or are you here to just “be?” Both are equally valuable, but it helps to know which one it is so you don’t beat yourself up for who you are not.

Kemadruma Yoga (when you are getting in your way)

If you feel that you have been working your butt off and still don’t have the results you would reasonably expect for it; you could have this yoga. Knowing that you are trying to bring something into being that your environment doesn’t support is a significant revelation and a step toward self-knowledge and understanding. Knowing what is wrong gives you the clues you need to change your course.
