Are You a Writer? The Moon & Writing

What all writers have in common is the Moon. But it’s the Moon in combination with one of three other planets; Mercury, Venus or Jupiter that produces a writer. Are you a writer? In this post, I’ll show you how to see if you are (you will need your birth chart).

Jaimini Astrology and the Moon for Being an Author

The Moon can be in one of the signs ruled by Mercury, Jupiter, or Venus, such as Virgo, Gemini, Taurus, Libra, Sagittarius, or Pisces.

Or, the Moon can be with, or aspected by, Mercury, Venus or Jupiter in the main birth chart, the Navamsa, the 9th divisional chart, and other divisional charts too.

Houses Involved & Fiction Writing or Technical Writing

There are particular houses in the birth chart required to be a writer too. The 3rd house is the hard work of writing (grammar & the mechanics of writing), so this house HAS to be involved in some way. The 5th house is the house of creativity, and the 9th house is the house of teaching and telling tales. For fiction writers, you need a connection with the 5th and 9th houses.

For technical writers, such as software engineers, the 3rd house is a must not only for writing but for engineering. The other two houses are not mandatory, though having the Moon and Mercury, Venus or Jupiter connected to your career planets, and signs are required. Rahu represents technology and needs to be involved too.

Are You a Blocked Writer?

Then, the energy between these planets and houses needs to be free-flowing. Sometimes a writing yoga is blocked by a planet in a specific house.

For instance, if you have the Moon in the 3rd house, but have Rahu in the 11th house (of groups), then the Moon is blocked by Rahu. If you write with a group of people who are also writing (11th house), it’s an excellent way to get around the planet blocking the Moon.

When I was studying Jaimini astrology, I discovered the reason I sometimes couldn’t write no matter what I did. Rahu in my 11th house, blocks the Moon in my 3rd house of writing.

One Remedy for the Blocked Writer

So I joined a writing group called Sit Down, Shut Up, and Write. I drove 30 minutes to it once a week because I was able to write with this group of people (11th house) who were writing along with me.  We would arrive at 7:00 pm, socialize for an hour, and then the leader would tell us when it was 8:00 by tapping his wristwatch. That was our cue to ‘shut-up’ and get writing. For the next hour, everyone was quiet and productive. My articles seemed to write themselves in that group.

  1. Love this, Karen. I feel I am a writer at heart. Recently, I asked myself, ” If money were not an issue, what would you do just for the joy of it?’ Writing was my internal response. I would love for you to look at my chart again to tell me what the direction of my writing could be, and if it could be financially viable for me.
