Today I’ll be concentrating on Venus in Pisces because Venus is very powerful now and is considered to be “exalted” in Pisces, the sign that Venus can express itself the best.

Sometimes, however, it can represent a state of mind that is based on an ideal, or something not quite real.

If you have an ex-lover returning to you now, or if you are sensing that he/she is thinking about you, they are probably “exalting” you in some way. Exaltation is a sincere feeling, but it’s based on an idealized version of you, or of love, and is not built to last.

This state of exaltation in love is typical in the beginning of a new relationship. If you are newly in love, enjoy this time of heightened feeling because it can be a very romantic experience.

If you both have good enough capacity for relationship individually, and you have good enough compatibility together, then the period of exaltation can be a great start to a life-long love affair (check out these fantastic Relationship Capacity & Compatibility Reports to see the long-term potential for your relationship)!

“What is he feeling about me right now & when will I get over him?”

In Horary astrology, when a woman asks a question about how her boyfriend/husband/secret lover is feeling about her and the boyfriend/husband/secret lover is represented by a planet in the sign of Pisces, then he is “exalting” her.

In other words, he is smitten, infatuated, twitterpated, besotted with (Bambi learns what twitterpated means), an idealized version of her at this time.

Most of us go through this phase in the beginning of a love relationship, but after about three months or so, we start to the see the person more realistically. This is when real love is actually possible, meaning we can see our lover as they actually are and love them anyway.

Unfortunately, many relationships end when the exaltation period is over because reality can’t live up to the romantic dream that Venus in Pisces seems to promise.

Here is an example of a Horary chart where a client is asking how her ex-lover feels about her and when she will finally get over him:

She is Venus in this chart, as the person asking the question is always the ascendant ruler, and the person she is asking about is the 7th house ruler, in this case, Mars.

Mars represents him as a thinking feeling person, and since he is a man, he also gets the Sun to represent the part of him that is sexually attracted to a particular woman.

As we can see, her planet, Venus, is in the sign of Pisces, and his two planets, Mars and the Sun, are also in the sign of Pisces.

For various reasons that are not necessary to explain in this article, they are not able to be together. He is “exalting” her, his distilled memory of her, and his romantic dream of the perfect woman.

She too is liking him a lot, as Mars has a lot of strength in the sign of Pisces, but she is not necessarily in love with him, nor is she exalting him either (not yet anyway). She is missing the feeling of being in love.

She is sensing that he is missing her again (I see this intuitive connection between people all the time in horary), which is why she is”exalting” herself.

Often, the exaltation of oneself as a attractive sexual being is part of the healing process in recovering from a broken heart, and sometimes it literally represents a beautiful woman (in this case, it’s both).

The Romantic Dream Ends

As you can see, both of his planets, Mars and the Sun, are going to go into the sign of Aries next. The exaltation of Venus will then abruptly end.

In Horary astrology, Venus is in “detriment” in the sign of Aries; Mars is very strong in its “home” sign of Aries, and the Sun is “exalted” in the sign of Aries.

In English, this means that he will not continue to feel the same way about her (a very good reason not to get back together) and he will then be concerned solely with himself (Mars in its own sign) and his own power as an attractive sexual being (the exalted Sun).

He will withdraw his “projection” of the perfect woman from her, his own inner anima (video about the woman inside of every man), and she would feel the pedestal being suddenly yanked out from under her feet (Pisces rules the feet) causing her to fall onto the ground of hard reality with an unpleasant thud.

Unfortunately, she will sense this when it happens too, and her planet, Venus, will enter the sign of Aries next where she will be “ruled” by him, meaning she will still love him as a thinking/feeling person (rulership means she sees him as he really is and loves him anyway).

However, she will exalt him as man, seeing him as the perfect man as a projection of her inner animus (video on the man inside of every woman).

Venus in detriment in the sign of Aries indicates she will feel unattractive as a woman and powerless to win his love, all the while loving him and putting him above her in her mind.

She Gets Over Him

Luckily, Aries is a moveable sign which means that her feelings for him will be intense, but short-lived (in symbolic time).

When Venus leaves Aries and goes into the sign of Taurus, the “home” sign of Venus, she will no longer love him (Mars is in detriment in Taurus) as a thinking-feeling person and will be completely indifferent to him as a man (the Sun has no power in Taurus).

Taurus is a fixed sign, so she will be finally “over” him romantically and will be appropriately concerned with herself, as she has been suffering for quite a while over this unattainable man.

This relationship is also a good example of the intense pain of having good compatibility, including the extra “wow” factor of “magnetic attraction,” with a man who does not have good relationship capacity (which means the ability to do right by the woman).

But that is another Venus story for another day.

Venus in Pisces Not Just for Romantic Love

Whether you are in love right now, or longing for a lost love, Venus in Pisces is a great time to focus on your spiritual practices, especially if you are a woman, to increase your inner peace, radiance, and healthy self-love.

For men and women, the ability to receive unconditional love from the Divine within you (what Pisces is really about), makes it possible to love another human without illusion, or disappointment, in their imperfection.

Plus, it’s a great time to read poetry, science fantasy, study astrology, or buy beautiful clothes, shoes, vehicles, beds, and bed linens!

Why Jupiter from the Natal Moon?

Why forecasts for Jupiter from the Moon? Because Jupiter is one of the two main destiny planets, and because Jupiter changes signs end of June 2013.

Jupiter is our happiness, wealth, children, husband if you’re a woman, teacher, and he brings some sort of harvest when he is in a favorable position from the Moon (or Sun).

The Moon represents the mind, the ego, and our feelings about our lives. This is why the Moon is considered to be the most important planet in your birth chart in Vedic Astrology.

FORECASTS 2013

ARIES: Well, Aries moon, if you’ve been itching to start your own business, or work for a different company doing something different than you’ve been doing, this is the time to do it. It has been since the end of June 2012, actually. Don’t cling to your present circumstances, exit now while your reputation and relationships are still good.

At the end of June 2013, Jupiter goes into the sign of Cancer until July 16, 2014. Your relatives may become a cause of worry, but you don’t have to solve their problems, just be available to listen and give advice. If you have money to spare, then maybe you can help out that way too (one of the best reasons to acquire wealth is to be able to help family and friends when you want to).

The good thing about this is that it will only last for a year until Jupiter changes signs again. It just feels like an eternity sometimes. This is a good time to examine just what happiness and wealth really means to you and how much of it depends on the strength of your spiritual practices and/or your state of mind.

TAURUS: Since June of 2012 until the end of June 2013 is a great time period for you, Taurus moon. Your wealth will increase and you’ll be free from the people who usually seem to wish you ill, and your love life should heat up too. The old language puts it like this: “The native will sport with the mouth of their beloved, as does a bee with the lotus.” Nice, huh?

Starting from the end of June 2013 until end of June 2014, there may be a change in profession. You can plan for it and make it your idea, so it doesn’t have that terrible feeling that unwanted change has, especially for fixed energy signs like you. Roll with it, Taurus, as best you can, it will turn out to be for the best.

GEMINI:  Strangely, when Jupiter is in the same sign as the moon, it is not supportive of clear thinking and can lead to quarrels and mental dejection. I wish I understood exactly why it is this way so I could explain it in a way that would satisfy the logical nature of the Gemini moon, but I can’t at this point in my astrological understanding. Acceptance is always a smart option when understanding isn’t possible anyway. Jupiter has been in the same sign as your Moon since June of 2012. You may have lost some of your money since then.

No worries, however, as of end of June 2013, this changes when Jupiter goes into the sign of Cancer where it will be in the second sign from your Moon. Again, I don’t know why this is, but I know it’s true that Jupiter in the second sign from the natal Moon sign is a position of “harvest.” Not only will your wealth increase in some way, but your love life will heat up too!

For some strange reason, I personally have four female friends with the Moon in the sign of Gemini, and all of them are single and ready to meet their true love, so to speak. Well, it’s much more likely to happen during the second half of this year when Jupiter, the planet that rules husbands, is supporting this part of your life!

The old language puts it like this: “The native will sport with the mouth of their beloved, as does a bee with the lotus.” I think our conversations about men, my dear Gemini Moon friends, are going to be a lot more about happiness in love!

CANCER: Since June of 2012 until the end of June 2013, you will question whether you are on the right path, so see a good astrologer to make sure you are not going down a dead end. When Jupiter is in the 12th position from your natal Moon sign, it’s harder to access your sense of purpose because it’s like it’s being “hidden” from your conscious mind.

A consistent meditation and/or prayer practice (or whatever gets you in touch with your inner Divine) will help you to be in touch with your sense of purpose and meaning.
When Jupiter goes into the sign of Cancer at the end of June 2013, I’m sorry to say that it doesn’t get much better, so do whatever you can to feed your faith and be “happy for no reason.”

Actually, that is the name of the book Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out by Marci Shimoff.  Starting July 16, 2014, will be harvest time for you, so just know that easier times are coming.

LEO: Life has generally been good, and you’ve been inspired since June of 2012 and will continue to be until the end of June 2013. This is a harvest period for you Leo Moon, so really allow yourself to experience the fruits of your labors and the grace that comes with the planetary cycles of Jupiter. It’s wonderful to be around a Leo Moon, or Leo Sun person who is inspired and happy!

When Jupiter goes into the sign of Cancer end of June 2013, it moves to the 12th position from your natal Moon. That means you have to dig a bit deeper into your consciousness for inspiration and happiness. If you have a hard time accessing it on your own, it’s a great time to join a spiritually oriented group so you can be supported by many during your time of doubt.

VIRGO: From June 2012 until end of June 2013, Jupiter is in the 10th position from your natal Moon. It’s likely that you’ve been struggling with your health, your wealth, and perhaps your position at work too. You may feel that nothing you do produces what you intend it to, or that you’ve been swimming against the stream (you have). Don’t give up, the harvest time just around the corner!

When Jupiter goes into the sign of Cancer end of June 2013 until August 2014, you will be in a grace period, or time of harvest and the old language says it best, Jupiter in the 11th position from the natal Moon, “Bestows position, health and wealth. Favors, success in all actions, and elevation to a distinguished station in life.” Much of your struggle during Jupiter’s transit through the sign of Gemini will pay off now. Take full advantage of this time, Virgo Moon! It’s your turn even if you don’t think you’ve “earned” it, you have – enjoy your year of easy inspiration and happiness!

LIBRA: From June 2012 until end of June 2013, Jupiter is in the 9th position from your natal Moon. You may have had a promotion at work and/or gained in authority, skill, and had general success in your undertakings. If married, you’ve been happier with your spouse and children.

Starting at the end of June 2013 until August 2014, there may be some challenges at work, you may not get a raise you were expecting, or you may feel unappreciated for all you do. Realize that you are the only one who has to appreciate what you do and your rewards will have to be self-given. Make sure to acknowledge all of your wins, past and present, no matter how small. Write them all down, and review it regularly. Halfway through 2014, when Jupiter goes into Leo, others will notice too and you may advance even farther than you had hoped you would.

SCORPIO: Okay, you’ve been really tired and overworked for too long. You’ve been on an arduous journey for the past six months and feeling like all your sweat has too little return, but hang in there, it will all pay off starting at the end of June 2013, and it will all be a whole lot easier. You will be recognized for your skill and will gain in authority with yourself and others. You’ll make more money too, and if single, you are more likely to meet someone special.

SAGITTARIUS: I like the old language for this position, Jupiter in the 7th sign from the natal Moon: “Confers fine couches, erotic pleasures, wealth, tasty food, flowers, vehicles, elegant speech and intellectual eminence. Accomplishment in all actions.” Even if it hasn’t been all wonderful, Jupiter has made the hard stuff at least a little bit easier.

End of June 2013, when Jupiter goes into Cancer, others will notice too and you may advance even farther than you had hoped, plus your love life will pick up and if you have children, they will do well too.

CAPRICORN: Even though you have everything you really need, you may have been feeling kind of disenchanted anyway. Jupiter in Gemini since June of 2012 has been in the sixth position from your natal Moon, not one of the best positions for happiness. It’s an “out of sorts” position. Watch more funny movies, read something uplifting about people winning at something, and study the art of happiness. What you learn will help you to maximize the great energy from Jupiter in Cancer starting at the end of June 2013 until August 2014.

Jupiter in Cancer will rev up your love life, and you’ll enjoy great food and flowers. You will either make more money or realize how wealthy you are in other ways. You’ll easily find the words for whatever situation you’re in and you will accomplish a lot. Nice!

AQUARIUS: The ancient language is pretty interesting for the time period you’ve been enjoying since June of 2012 and will continue to enjoy until end of June 2014. Jupiter in the fifth position from the natal Moon says: “Bestows servants, meritorious acts (or auspicious rituals), children, elephants, horses, bulls, gold, houses in town, marriage with a young woman (or man), garments, gems and a number of virtues such as learning and valor. Acquisition of vehicles.”

A friend of mine with the natal Moon in Aquarius told me that she bought a new Toyota Corolla, is in college and taking a class about the ethics on the treatment of animals, specifically about the harvesting of the ivory tusks of elephants, and she got a new bracelet with a gorgeous turquoise gem! As of this writing, it’s only seven months into the transit of Jupiter in Gemini, there will be more good stuff to come…maybe a baby?

End of June 2013 to August 2014, Jupiter goes into the sign of Cancer, the sixth position from Aquarius, and you may find yourself in a funk for no good reason that you can figure out. There is a tendency to feel unhappy even though you have everything to make one comfortable.

It probably means that it’s time to reevaluate what makes you truly happy, and what would make you feel truly wealthy. You could make a study of this, and dig deep inside to see what surprises are waiting for you. Maybe a new spiritual practice, such as a gratitude practice would help. This is when you give thanks for every good thing, great or small, in your life on a daily basis, and your ability to recognize, and receive, even more good things, will grow.

PISCES: You’ve been worrying about your family for the past six months and probably will continue to do so until end of June 2013. I think that when Jupiter is in the fourth position from our natal Moon, the spiritual lesson is to learn to let people walk their own path and make their own mistakes, especially those closest to you.

End of June 2013, Jupiter goes into the sign of Cancer, the fifth position from your natal Moon bestows servants, meritorious acts (or auspicious rituals), children (or creative projects), vehicles, gold, clothes, gems, maybe a more to a more desirable place to live, and much growth in knowledge. Yeah, sounds good to me.

Saturn’s function in our lives is to help us to develop long-term stability and focus, to persevere in the face of delays and obstacles, and to endure the kind of pain that is beyond our ability to control.

When Saturn is strong, we can work for long periods of time in isolation in order to complete something of long-term value, and we’re willing to do all the boring, tedious stuff involved in any successful project.

When the first Vedic astrologer I ever went to recommended that I feed the crows to help Saturn take care of Saturn’s significations in my life, I thought he was kidding.

Saturday is Ruled by Saturn

But no, he said feeding birds, different foods on different days of the week, support the planets as each day of the week corresponds to one of the traditional seven planets, and as you’ve figured out, Saturday is ruled by Saturn. I was intrigued by this unusual idea, so I started to feed the crows on Saturdays.

The concept is that when the crows seem to trust you (they’re too smart to trust humans easily), then you’ll know you’ve gained the favor of Saturn. Feeding the crows is also a way of developing a relationship with the planet Saturn and what Saturn represents, thereby strengthening the Saturn function within your psyche.

Being someone who starts (too many) projects with enthusiasm, but often doesn’t continue with a project after enthusiasm has waned, this seemed like a fun way to develop more discipline and focus.

For a couple of years my husband and I fed the crows on the front lawn of the house we were living in at the time. After a month, we noticed that the crows were lined up sitting on the telephone wires waiting for us to throw the torn-up bread heels on the lawn for them.

The amazing thing was, they didn’t line up and wait for us every day, but only on Saturdays! At first, we just threw out plain bread heels and sometimes other leftovers, but we were so delighted that they were smart enough to know when it was Saturday, that we started to spoil them a little.

A Menu for Crows

We added peanut butter, honey, and sunflowers seeds to the bread heels. My husband figured out that they didn’t like the typical birdseed used to feed birds because the seeds were too small for their larger beaks. We also discovered that they love dried cat food (dried dog food pieces are too large for them to eat easily).

After a time of feeding and watching them, we noticed their individual personalities and how they looked at different life stages; the adolescents are shinier and sleeker, and smaller, of course, than the adults.

We have never seen any of their babies, nor did we go looking for their nests because we didn’t want to threaten the bond we seemed to be developing with them.

What Happened When We Stopped

Two years later, we had to move. We only moved down the street and around the corner to an apartment building, but we stopped feeding them because several children play on the lawn inside the apartment complex and we never saw the crows walking around, or foraging on the lawn.

I felt bad though, especially when they seemed to follow my car everywhere I went. For a while, every time I got in or out of my car, whether I was at the local grocery store, or 23 miles away in the parking lot of the company I worked at, the crows were right there cawing and squawking at me like they were giving me a good scolding.

I thought it could have been my imagination, but they stopped following and scolding me after about two months. I definitely noticed and was relieved when they stopped, but I continued to feel bad about it.

This all happened about eight years ago, and about eight months ago we decided to see if they if they would come down to the lawn area and eat if we left food out for them.

They Come Back

It took about four months, but we started to see them cautiously (caution is a Saturn quality) hopping on the grass, inspecting, and then eating the food we left out for them.

It’s such a simple thing, requiring nothing more from us than putting out food out for them every Saturday morning (actually just after midnight on Friday night), but when we saw them once again eating the food, we were as delighted and excited as if we had spotted unicorns.

Recently, I was sitting in my home office, and I noticed a crow kept flying really close to the window, squawking his head off. There are no window sills he could alight on, so he just kept flying by as close as he could.

I realized that we had forgotten to leave food out for them the night before as usual (there had been some recent changes to our schedules that threw everything off).

The crows know who is feeding them, what apartment we live in even  though it’s always dark when we leave out the food and the grassy area is surrounded on three sides by several apartments. Even more amazing, is that they know what room I work in! Mind you, my office is in the back of the apartment. These are intelligent birds, did I mention that?

Not Exactly Bird-Brains

Massage is wonderful. Watch comedies, read uplifting books, feed your mind with good information. You could make a lot of progress in a meditation practice now.

LEO: Congratulations, you are in a harvest period! You may make more money and get positive recognition in your career (a big bonus maybe?). People will do you favors, you’ll have success in all actions, and your health will be good too. You’ll be like a beacon, you’ll be shining so much! This what you’re here to do, by shining yourself, you’re showing other people how to shine too.

VIRGO: You may feel blocked or stalled in your career right now. Focus only on what you can control, and let go of the rest. It would be a good time to learn something new to get ready for a better job or position after October. Take better care of your health and avoid anyone in your life who is negative or doesn’t support you. Accomplishment in all actions. Okay, you won’t be spending ALL your time in bed, you’ll be getting serious stuff done too :-)

CAPRICORN: You will have a tendency to feel unhappy during this period, even if you have everything to make yourself comfortable. This is your inner wisdom prompting you to define what happiness really is for you, and to learn how to attain it on a consistent basis. You are a more serious-minded person to begin with because your Moon is ruled by Saturn, and you’re one of the deeper thinkers of the zodiac as a result. It’s interesting to note that Jupiter is debilitated in the sign of Capricorn! You may think of yourself as being “realistic” rather than pessimistic, but focusing only on what will likely go wrong is good if you’re getting paid to do that, such as helping businesses troubleshoot their operating systems. However, this mindset can rob you of some of the happiness you deserve as a human being. AQUARIUS: This is a good time for studying spiritual writings and engaging in spiritual practices. It’s also a sweet time for romance and happiness with children (either your own or other people’s children), creativity, artistic endeavors, and socializing. There will be an increase in wealth, and you may get a new car or other type of vehicle. Everything feels easier now, and you have a knack of being in the right place at the right time. You’ll notice the principle of synchronicity, or “meaningful coincidences,” in your life more than usual, tuning you into the mystical dimension of life.

PISCES: You may worry more about your family members now. Try to be clear on what is in your power to do for them and what is really their responsibility. You may wish you were a millionaire so you could give your relatives lots of money to solve their problems, but even if you could, would it really be a good idea? Being there to listen and to empathize may be the best thing you could do, as being truly heard and seen is a rare and deeply healing thing. Pisces, being the sign at the end of the zodiac, is truly a sign that has “been there, done that,” if anyone could listen this way, it’s you.

Mars in the 2^nd, 4^th, 8^th or 12^th from the Ascendant, from the Moon, and from Venus. This must be done for all three charts and in every instance that Mars has this placement, one point is given. So look at the Rasi first. Count how many times Mars falls in these positions from the Ascendant., Moon and Venus.

Now look at the Navamsa, do the same there and then the same with the Trimsamsa.

Add up the total.

If the couple has more than two points of difference, then one person will be pushier in the relationship than the other, and the person with less Mars consciousness will feel like they are backed into a corner from time to time. The more of the difference between the totals, the more one person is assertive and the other is passive.

It is the duty of the astrologer to point this out to the couple because Mars will make for problems down the road. If otherwise, the compatibility is good, then the difference in Kuja Dosha can be weathered.  If the compatibility is teetering on average, then the difference in Kuja Dosha can push it over the edge. If the compatibility is already less than average, then having a difference of more than two points in Kuja Dosha, will almost certainly end the relationship.

There are exceptions to Kuja Dosha and this must be taken into account when tallying up the totals for Mars affliction:

Mars in the 2^nd in Virgo or Gemini

Mars in the 4^th in Aries or Scorpio

Mars in the 7^th in Cancer

Mars in the 8^th in Pisces

Mars in the 12^th in Taurus

Some say Mars in Leo or Aquarius, but I have not found this to work at all.

The following is an explanation of Mars in the various houses of the partner and family and a general description of Mars.

Mars is a planet of consciousness because Mars is the will power. The Sun is the Soul and the Moon is the Mind, but Mars takes what is in the mind and puts it into action. The Moon is the perception and the manas, but Mars is the General that takes our perceptions and acts in the world. To assert ourselves in the world is Mars. Mars is logic and he is celibate. He is not swayed by emotion. Mars is swift and jumps into action to get the job done immediately. Mars gets directional strength in the 10^th house which is the opposite of the 4^th house, the house of the emotions and home life.

Mars in the 2^nd house: the 2^nd house is a house of family and of our environment. Asserting our will and being logical within the family will cause discord. Anytime logic is used in the realm of the family or partner, there will be fertile ground for hurt feelings and resentment. The family is not a logical place, it is an emotional place, and should be a place of comfort.

Mars in the 4^th house:  The 4^th house is similar to the 2^nd house as being a house of the home. But it is also a house of happiness and emotional security. Mars gets no directional strength here. This will make the person overbearing in their emotions and appear needy. The family members and partner will sometimes feel the brunt of their angry feelings.

Mars in the 7^th house:  the 7^th house is the house of the partner. A person with Mars in the 7^th house will assert their will with their partner. They will be logical with their partner. Emotion will be lacking when it come to romantic relationships.

Mars in the 8^th house:  the 8^th house is the house of the marital bond and also the partner’s money. Mars in 8^th person will assert their will in how their partner handles their assets and finances.

Mars in the 12^th house: the 12^th house as it applies to relationship life is the sex life. Mars in 12^th house person will assert their will and be very logical when it comes to sex.  There can be an element of selfishness on the part of the Mars in 12^th house person and his/her partner may come to feel like they are not having their sexual needs met.

Venus is the ruler of the natural 2nd and 7th houses, Taurus and Libra. The 2nd house is worth, and the 7th house is desire. The ultimate desire being for “the other,” or for a romantic partner. Thus, Venus rules desire and the choices we make to obtain our desires.

Venus also rules weighing what is more worthwhile in order to obtain what is desired. Libra, the moolatrikona sign of Venus, is represented by the Scales. When Venus is afflicted in a chart, the person makes poor decisions that take them down a path they do not want to go, and where the amount they must give up is not worth what they would receive.

There is more than one name given for Venus in the classical texts. Shukra is the most common and it means “bright white”. Another name for Venus is kama which means desire. Venus is also “Kritajna” or “knowledgeable in conduct.”  Thus Venus rules manners and politeness. Manners are necessary to navigate the world of others and have one’s desires fulfilled.  “Dinavegya” means “offering to the miserable” and is another name for Venus.  Whatever is offered to the miserable is to make them more comfortable, thus Venus rules all comforts, nursing, and therapy. Venus also rules upayes, or remedies, for afflictions in the chart.

Keep all that Venus represents in mind while evaluating its effects in the Signs. The Signs in which Venus is deposited, in addition to its position in regards to the Moolatikona sign of Libra will color and control all the effects of Venus within the horoscope.

Venus in Aries

In addition to the natural indications of Aries, Venus here will give the effects of a 2nd and 7th house Venus.*  Aries is 7 houses away from Libra, the Moolatrikona* sign of Venus, and counting from Venus, Taurus is the 2nd Sign from Aries. For Taurus, the feminine sign ruled by Venus, we always start counting from Venus first, because the feminine sign receives the energy and the masculine sign initiates the energy. Venus in Aries people enjoy the give and take of relationships and are almost always in one. They are sensitive and respectful of their partners and highly sensual. They have beautiful manners when dealing with others. The 2nd house Venus connotations will make these natives be receptive to romantic partners with beautiful faces. Comfort and decoram play a major part in their lives. They react strongly to beautiful words and speech and can appreciate good food. These natives find much value in the beauty of their surroundings and have an eye for fine art. A man with Venus in Aries will have a wife or girlfriend who has problems with subservient workers, servants, maids and physical labor (because Saturn rules subservient workers, servants, maids and physical labor, and  is debilitated in Aries).  He will also have a wife or girlfriend who has great luck with her bosses, the government, politicians and benefits greatly from her father ( because the Sun, which rules bosses, government, politicians, and fathers, is exalted in Aries).

Venus in Taurus

Venus in Taurus gives 8th and 1st house connotations in addition to the natural effects of Taurus.* 8th house connotations because Taurus is the 8th Sign from Libra, Venus’ Moolatrikona sign, and 1st house connotations because Venus is in Taurus is in its own feminine sign.* Venus in Taurus will initiate romance in a secretive, hidden fashion. They will be attracted to romantic partners who are also secretive and mysterious. They will find much value in the hidden, occult side of life. They often find that they transform themselves through relationships. They are naturally able to benefit from their partner’s resources. Relationships often have abrupt endings (because of the 8th house connotations). These natives are well-groomed and take care of their appearance. They are on the receiving end of much nurturing and comforting within relationships. Receiving love, and the results of their choices, directly affects their self-esteem. A man with Venus in Taurus will have a wife or girlfriend who benefits greatly from her mother and has a wonderful relationship with her mother (because the Moon is exalted in Taurus, and the Moon rules mothers).

Venus in Gemini

This Venus has 9th and 12th house connotations.* Venus in Gemini will initiate romance, nurturing and decision-making through a philosophical or religious platform (9th house).* They are also very attracted to and desiring of these qualities. When they make a choice, it is often after considering how it will benefit their higher learning and wisdom. These natives may also incur expenses while being on the receptive end of a relationship. The consequences of their decisions will cause them to incur expense also and they more often than not will have to give something up in order to receive in their relationships. Venus in Gemini people will often find that foreigners are attracted to them (12th house).* Sometimes their love interests are kept secret or hidden away. There is an inclination towards clandestine affairs but Venus would have to be very afflicted by aspect, or low in Sthana bala (positional strength) or Cheshta bala (focused energy), for the illicit nature to manifest.

Venus in Cancer

Venus in Cancer carries 10th and 11th house connotations in addition to the natural characteristics of Cancer.*  This placement of Venus will initiate romance, nurturing and decision making based upon duty (10th house).* The 10th house is the house of karma or action, and these natives often initiate their romances instead of being on the receiving end of someone’s affections. Venus in Cancer will make a career out of helming the relationship and of nurturing the partner. They are often on the receiving end of friendship oriented crushes from others. Because the interested party always presents themselves as a friend, the Venus in Cancer person is obliged to initiate the relationship.  The 11th house* connotations on the receiving end of the Venus in Cancer person will cause this native to be drawn to nurturing friends. The friends will also be consulted on a regular basis in important decisions by this native. Social life is of immense value to this person as well. Often, the results of decisions are financial or material gain. A man with Venus in Cancer will have a wife who has had abusive or anger-prone siblings and trouble with real-estate (because Mars rules real estate and is debilitated in Cancer) but at the same time, she will also have a very good husband (the native himself, because Jupiter is exalted in Cancer) and  she has very good fortune when it comes to the Jupiter-ruled realm of higher learning, philosophy, religion and teachers. Venus in Leo

Venus in Leo natives initiate relationships and decisions based upon what they have to gain from it. Venus in Leo often find that their partners have a lot to bring to the table either in wealth, resources, beauty or knowledge.  The Venus in Leo person is inherently attracted to these types of people, people who stand out in some way.  These natives will utilize friendship and social interaction as their main force when beginning and sustaining relationships.  The inherent value of the relationship will be based upon the friendly feelings between the two people and the ability of the couple to social climb and be recognized in social circles.  Venus in Leo natives will find that they are often showered with love and devotion that they very much enjoy unless Venus is afflicted.  This is because Taurus is 10 Signs away from Leo and they are on the receiving end of romance in a 10th house fashion.*  Their partners will make a “career” out of the relationship and nurturing the relationship.

Venus in Virgo

Venus is Virgo has 12th and 9th house connotations.* Virgo is the debilitation sign of Venus. Venus in Virgo natives will initiate their decision-making process in a vague, hidden manner. They are often unaware of why they made a certain choice. Loss is the catalyst for entering into relationships and they often enter them just for sexual gratification (12th house).* When they initiate a decision, they must almost always give up something before they can obtain what they desire. In addition to this, the idea of self-negation drives them in their choice of mate. This is why Venus is debilitated in this sign. Venus has to do with worth and if you are coming from a place of loss or thinking of devaluing yourself (12th house) in order to have a relationship, then you are going against the very nature of Venus as a karaka (producer). Venus in Virgo natives are often the object of desire for philosophical, religious types and also their mentors and teachers. The consequences of their decisions will affect their higher knowledge, their philosophy of life, and their spirituality (9th house). A man with Venus in Virgo will have a wife or girlfriend who benefits greatly from her friends and who has many skills. She will also be very articulate.  (Mercury rules communication and is exalted in Virgo).

Venus in Libra

These natives have characteristics of the 1st and 8th houses.* Venus in Libra will initiate its Venusian energy (partnership, relation, making choices and comforting, nurturing) through their body language and personal charisma. The native is polite, charming and well-mannered, gives good advice and has a soothing, comforting demeanor. The native will receive romance, nurturing and the consequences of their decisions through 8th house venues.* This means through mysterious, hidden and taboo channels. They will often become caught up in secret trysts. The resources and wealth of the partner serve to nurture and comfort this native. A man with Venus in Libra will often get a wife or girlfriend who has a less than stellar relationship with her father (the Sun, which rules the father, is debilitated in Libra) but very good luck with servants, tenants, and/or subservient workers (because Saturn rules servants, tenants, and subservient workers, and Saturn is exalted in Libra). A woman with Venus in Libra will often get caught up in romances that are very long-term (Saturn exalted in Libra) but that lack stability and consistency (the Sun is a stable and consistent energy but is debilitated in Libra).

Venus in Scorpio

These natives have characteristics of the 2nd and 7th houses (just like Aries, the other Mar-ruled Venus).* The native with this placement initiates relationships, decisions and comfort producing activities through the agent of their wealth (2nd house).* This person likes to feel stable within their own self-worth and financial situation and uses this to choose their partners and romantic interests. When they are trying to decide if something is worthwhile, the Venus in Scorpio person will calculate how it will add to their value. They are attracted to partners with beautiful faces. These people receive Venusian energy from partners that are highly sexual (7th house).* When the partner wants to nurture and comfort the Venus in Scorpio person, they do it through sex. The consequences of the decisions made by the Venus in Scorpio natives will often lead them into relationships and/or dealing with business partners. The consequences of their choices will also have a wide ranging effect on the people in their lives. A man with Venus in Scorpio will have a wife or girlfriend that was abused by her mother either emotionally or physically, or had a mother that was not present (because the Moon rules the mother and is debilitated in Scorpio). The woman with Venus in Scorpio will have romances that are full of heavy emotionality and some paranoia.

Venus in Sagittarius

These natives have a Venus with 3rd and 6th house connotations.*  Venus in Sagittarius will initiate relationships out of curiosity. They will be playful and love to go on adventures with their partner. When they make decisions and weigh the worth of something, they look to how much excitement it will bring them. The 3rd house is all about communication so these natives enjoy picking partners that they will be able to effectively communicate with. They are often on the receiving end of love interests that enjoy argument and sparing. Venus in Sagittarius is not the most auspicious place for Venus because the 6th house is the house of divorce. Many times, these natives will attract partners that turn out to be their enemies and do not have their best interests at heart. The consequences of their decisions often wind them up in debt. But they can benefit a lot from their decisions through the agency of their health (the 6th house).

Venus in Capricorn

The native with Venus in Capricorn will have 4th and 5th house characteristics to his/her Venus.* This Venus will initiate relationships to find happiness and from deep emotional need. Nurturing others and making worthwhile decisions are an integral ingredient to their happiness. The 4th house is also a hidden house, so when the person is interested in someone romantically, they will show their interest very subtly and the object of their affection must be tuned in to their emotions. The Venus in Capricorn person receives love from others in a grand, romantic fashion (5th house). The partner of the Venus in Capricorn person will be very creative in the way they express their devotion. The consequences of decisions made by Venus in Capricorn people will often lead them into some kind of creativity and the opportunity to express their creativity will weigh heavily on the decisions they make.  Also, if they have children, these children will always be taken into consideration when making decisions (5th house). A man with Venus in Capricorn will have a wife or girlfriend that has ill luck with Jupiter-ruled people such as teachers, mentors, philosophy and/or religion, and money (because Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn).

Venus in Aquarius

Venus in Aquarius gives 5th and 4th house effects, exactly like Venus in Capricorn, however the initiative/receptive dynamic is reversed.* Venus in Aquarius will initiate relationships and maintain them very creatively, and in an over-the-top romantic way. Before making decisions, they weigh how it will improve their creativity. Partners that are attracted to the Venus in Aquarius person will show their affections clandestinely, and in a deeply emotional way. This native naturally attracts very nurturing partners. There are no planets that are exalted or debilitated in Aquarius, so reading some life experiences of the wife or girlfriend for the man with Venus in Aquarius does not apply.

Venus in Pisces

This is Venus’ exalted position. This is odd because Venus will give 6th and 3rd house effects here.* Interestingly, such characteristics reveal a naturally cruel facet of the nature of Venus. After all, the avatar for Venus is Parasurama, an avatar that is known for his killing. And Venus is the guru of the demons. Venus in Pisces people will initiate relationships from an inimical standpoint, meaning they will love to challenge their partner. Verbal sparring will be their method of amorous fraternizing. Venus in Pisces people will attract partners who are interested in adventure and are very curious about having new adventures. There will be much indecisiveness when making a decision for these natives. The enemies of a Venus in Pisces native will have much to do with the choices this native makes, and he or she often finds that the consequences of such choices will lead them into their own hobbies, travel, and modes of self-expression (3rd house). The man with Venus in Pisces will have a wife or girlfriend that has trouble, and ill luck, with her friends and has issues with communication (Mercury rules communication and is debilitated in Pisces).

Any education that furthers your skills, talents, abilities are usually good, but what if you choose the wrong class, at the wrong time, or one that ends up costing you more in time, money and energy than it’s worth?

For many of us, our time and money are limited enough that we have to be very careful about what we spend it on, so, there has to be a high “rate of return” to make it worth it.

There Are SO Many Great Classes

As a self-employed person, there are many, many classes, coaching programs, and products I could buy to increase my ability to make more money, attract the best clients, and have more free time. So many of them are as alluring to me as a shiny bit of bait is to a hungry fish!

Recently, I was talking with a friend who was expressing regret that she had paid for a course that was going to be running at the same time she was involved in another professional training situation (my friend has a packed schedule and is juggling a staggering amount of responsibilities).

Being an astrologer, naturally I suggested that she ask a Horary question the next time she was tempted to sign up for a course in the future to see first if it would actually pay off for her (a Horary chart is based on the time and date that you ask a question, not your personal birth data).

Then I realized that I could do the same for myself. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that earlier! It’s funny, but many astrologers seldom use their astrological skills for themselves, and like all other humans, we like to think that because we want it so bad, it must be a good idea.

Plus, some of us have an excess of Jupiter energy (Jupiter is the planet of expansion and optimism), so we think we can do it all too.

Reality Check

Very soon after the conversation with my friend mentioned above (another Jupiter-type person), two very juicy business courses came to my attention.

This time, however, I cast a Horary chart about each course first, before pulling out my wallet.

Not surprisingly, the answer was “no” on both courses. There was nothing wrong with the courses, in fact, the charts showed them to be very good, but the “profit” I would make from them was not good at all.

The chart is showing that the knowledge is either not appropriate for my business at this time; I won’t be able to translate the information to fit my type of business; or I am too busy with what I need to do now that I wouldn’t be able to do a good job implementing the ideas (see the chart and how I came to the answer).

I’m Not the Only One

Right around the same time that I was asking my question, I was asked this very type of question by two clients, AND an astrologer friend told me of a similar question asked by one of his clients.

Continuing education is obviously something that a lot of people are considering right now to improve their professional success, probably because of the current state of the economy.

Recent Similar Client Questions

“Will this program on clearing my (emotional) money issues pay off for me?” The program would have cost her at least $2,000, but more likely, $5,000. The chart’s answer was a resounding “NO!”

“Should I take these computer classes and get a certificate of expertise?” This Horary chart showed that he would hate the classes, be very unhappy with the profits, and wouldn’t have enough time for it anyway. Maybe if he asks the question in a year or so from now, the Horary chart will have a different answer.

My astrologer friend’s client asked, “If I go to art school, would I be able to make a living as an artist?” That Horary chart also showed that she would be very disappointed with the results of that investment (art school would cost thousands of dollars and a good chunk of her time).

If we added up the cost of each one of these courses, it would easily be thousands of dollars, but because of Horary astrology, it turns out to be thousands of dollars SAVED!

Well, whether you read my previous articles on Mercury or not, there are other times that Mercury can cause you to have “Mercury-retrograde-like” experiences, even when Mercury is NOT retrograde. These times are when transiting Mercury is in one of the five unfavorable positions from your birth Moon sign.

I’m in one of those “unfavorable” periods right now. My Moon sign (in my birth chart) is Pisces, and transiting Mercury is now in it’s exaltation sign of Virgo. Pisces and Virgo are opposite each other in the Zodiac, so that means that Mercury is the 7th sign from my natal Moon.

The 1/7 position is often one of opposition and conflict, literally like being on opposite sides of an issue or a debate. The other four unfavorable positions are when Mercury is in the 1st place as your natal Moon (which means Mercury and your natal Moon are in the same sign), in the 5th, 9th and 12th signs from your natal Moon sign, (counting in a counterclockwise direction, starting from your natal Moon sign).

Computer Problems

People trying to email me were getting their emails bounced back, so I had to contact AT&T (love those phone trees and several transfers), but they said there was nothing wrong. Sigh. Obviously, that wasn’t true, so I contacted my website service provider to see what they could tell me.

Turns out my mailbox size was set too small, so the very helpful person at Go-Daddy simply set it to a much larger size (for no extra charge).

It was time-consuming and tedious, but I did learn something that will save me trouble in the future. Did you know that you have to delete emails from the SERVER and not just from your mailbox if your mailbox is too full? I didn’t (and apparently, neither did the guy at AT&T, even though it’s their server).

Well, I tried to delete emails from the server, but it takes about 10 minutes for one email to be deleted! You know what that means, don’t you? I have to call AT&T again. Luckily, Mercury will go into the sign of Libra on 9/26/11, the 8th sign from Pisces, a MUCH more favorable place. I’ll call them then.

Massive Overwhelm

When Mercury went into Virgo, it seemed I suddenly felt completely overwhelmed by the details of life; all the things I have on my To-Do list, and tons of follow-up stuff. Oftentimes a feeling of panic would well up inside of me making me want to throw things, scream, or just go lay down
for a while (tip: stepping away for short periods of time helps more than throwing things).

Misunderstandings

Then there are the misunderstandings between my husband and I, that turn out to be NOTHING once we get to the bottom of it, but when it’s going on, I feel really helpless and remarkably like a two-year-old just before she throws herself to the ground, kicking and screaming in frustration (no, I haven’t actually done that).

Other Moon Signs Affected

Does any of this sound familiar? We all experience these types of frustrations at some time during the year. Right now, Pisces Moon people are not alone on this bumpy ride while Mercury is in Virgo. Mercury Mantras

I decided to do Mercury mantras because of my impaired ability to manifest things like money, order, simplicity, and mastery of the details involved in my projects, not only during the current transit, but because Mercury is “weak” in my birth chart and I always have some degree of difficulty with Mercury things. (If you haven’t read my three previous articles about Mercury’s job of managing, manifesting, and making money for you, then you can read them on this page, just look to the left for titles with the word Mercury in them).

The best time to start the Mercury Mantras was yesterday (according to my Muhurta Report), and I felt soothed and relaxed after reciting them (I’ll let you know how my Mercury abilities improve).

Very Simple Tai Chi Exercise to Increase Money & Prosperity

A delightful British man, known as The Barefoot Doctor, generously created a free video demonstrating a simple Tai Chi exercise for increasing prosperity. It’s very easy, and I especially enjoy the brief visualization at the end of the exercise. It strengthens the “spleen” (or Earth) energy in your body and helps you to manifest abundance (a Mercury function). If you are concerned about your finances, try it for three days or longer and see what happens.

Oh, What A Relief It Is!

To reduce my feelings of overwhelm, I decided to unsubscribe from “Interesting, but Irrelevant” newsletters that don’t help me with what I’m doing in my life RIGHT NOW.

I have a tendency to try to “learn ahead” by downloading free PDF reports, subscribing to newsletters, buying educational products, signing up for free tele-classes, and browsing websites about things that I plan to be doing EVENTUALLY.

It’s embarrassing how many free tele-seminar MP3′s, educational products, PDF reports, and newsletters I’ve collected over the past three years or so that I STILL haven’t read, listened to, or studied! Yet they are still “pulling” on me energetically, because I have them on my mental “To Do” list.

After unsubscribing from about 12 newsletters, tucking my MP3′s and PDF’s in folders out of sight, I feel wonderfully clear-headed and calm! The reality is that when I need the information, not only will it be available then, but it will be current. Mercury transiting an unfavorable position from my natal Moon really pointed this out to me, so I could adapt (Moon) to the demands of my environment in a more efficient (Mercury) way.

It’s Good MORE Than 50% of the Time

Seven times a year, everyone’s Moon Sign gets to be in a FAVORABLE position from transiting Mercury, while there are only five unfavorable positions (Moon signs currently in a favorable position from transiting Mercury in Virgo are: LEO, CANCER, GEMINI, ARIES, AQUARIUS, SAGITTARIUS, and SCORPIO).

Mercury is a relatively fast moving planet, typically staying in a sign for an average of 18 days. When it is in it’s apparent Retrograde motion, of course, it stays in a sign longer than that (it was in the sign of Leo for a total of 59 days this year), but Mercury goes retrograde only three times
a year.

What we can learn about ourselves, and the subsequent positive changes we make, during these “inauspicious” times are invaluable, and are much longer-lasting than ALL of Mercury’s transits.
