Monday Moon Message: The Lovesick Moon

Quote by Rumi

The Sun is a ‘self’ planet, but the Moon is a social, relationship planet. In the old language, the Moon is described as ‘Lovesick.’ The Moon is one of the feminine-energy planets (Venus is the other) and is therefore ‘negative.’ Meaning the Yin versus the Yang part of the polarity necessary to create attraction.

The feminine yin energy is considered negative because it is aware of what it lacks and so yearns for union with something ‘positive’ – the masculine yang, energy.

In other words, the feminine wants to unite with something that knows what it has and is confident in that (the Sun is confident in itself).

It’s interesting to note that in Horary astrology, the Sun is used to represent the ‘man’ part of a man, the part of him that wants a mate in relationship questions. The woman gets Venus to represent her as ‘woman,’ and the person asking the relationship question also gets the Moon to represent their heart, whether they are male or female.

In natal astrology, the Moon is the feminine side of a person and the Sun is the masculine.

The Lovesick Moon – The Physical

The Moon on a physical level desires affection. Holding hands, hugs, kisses, and personal, nicknames. Even teasing, when done in a playful loving way, is something that the Moon enjoys as a form of affection. This is why women, in general, love all of these physical displays of affection. Flowers, cards, poems, words of love, and music are all ways to satisfy the heart of a woman.

The Lovesick Moon – The Psychological

The Moon on a psychological level causes her to desire emotional intimacy. She knows what she is feeling and can intuitively pick-up what you are feeling too. She loves it when you share your deepest thoughts, feelings, and dreams with her. I think it was a Moon person who started journal keeping when humans began to use language in written form.

If you are a woman who tends to not know what you are feeling at the moment you are feeling it, then keeping a journal on a daily basis is the secret to becoming tuned into your true feelings and the ‘all-knowing’ intuition of your Moon.

Write down your experiences of the day and you will find out what you are really feeling in your relationships, your work, and your life in general. Interestingly, the Moon rules writing.

The Lovesick Moon – The Spiritual

In relationship to the Divine, we are all negative, feminine souls that long to unite with the One Positive Soul. Throughout our lives, we are pursued by the Divine, and we respond, or not, to His love. If you are a woman who longs for love but for some reason your relationships with men don’t work out, then cultivate your relationship with the Divine Masculine.

Eros by Jake Kobrin

Be open to all the ways He loves you, however you understand Him, and this will actually make you radiant, receptive, and magnetic to the love of a human man.

Women have to feel good to do good, and having a love affair with the Divine will fill up your heart from the inside and make you feel good no matter what is happening in your life.

When I was in the Navy a million years ago, I met a woman named Judy. Judy was the most loving and spiritual women I ever knew, before or since.

Every love song that came onto the radio, she would imagine she was singing it to God. She wrote love letters to Him, and she would not listen to criticism of any religion or spiritual path.

To her, ALL paths to God were good and there was no need to compete, compare, or fight over any differences between them.

She could see right into you within moments of meeting you; she could see your essence, your beauty, and your heart. Everyone bloomed in her presence and I wasn’t into astrology in those days, but I’m willing to bet that she had the Moon prominent in her birth chart.

Judy was all heart and had all the auspicious characteristics of the Moon; all knowing (intuitive), auspiciously eyed (saw the good in everyone), of sweet speech (she was loving and encouraging), and love sick (she wanted to connect with everyone she came in contact with). To this day, she is an inspiration to me whenever I think of her!
