Does the dark seem darker than usual? Do you have a vague sense of doom? The month starts out with a darker feeling (daylight savings time ends too on November 2nd), and then finishes with Thanksgiving and a lighter, more hopeful feeling.
NOTE: If you don’t already have a copy of your birth chart, get afree printout PDF of it HERE. Notice that further down on the page are the descriptions of the 12 houses of the zodiac and what areas of life they rule. Use your birth chart and the descriptions of the house significations to follow along as you read this newsletter, and you will get a whole lot more out of it.
The Sun, Venus, and Saturn are in the sign of Scorpio at the beginning of the month. Scorpio is a water sign relating to spiritual liberation, emotional security, and removing oneself from the darkness of mental and emotional suffering.
Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Mars is exalted right now in the sign of Capricorn, aspecting the planets in Scorpio too. Mars exalted in Capricorn will be very focused and able to solve problems. A strong Mars is needed see the truth and then deal with the truth it sees.
Especially since Venus, the planet of luxury and comfort, is “besieged” by his enemy the Sun on one side, and Saturn (though a friend to Venus) on the other side, who starves anyone he is with.
The good news about this is that it also makes it possible to do something really hard, if something hard needs to be done.
A Feeling of Separation
Saturn with Venus brings a feeling of separation in our relationships and makes us aware of what is lacking. Saturn leads us to our destiny by narrowing our path. What does that mean?
It’s a good time to take your valued relationships to a deeper level, and cut out the relationships that are not worth your time and energy.
If you have any “energy vampires” in your life right now, they are only going to get thirstier in this astrological atmosphere, so get your inner Buffy the Vampire Slayer on it and stake them (I’m referring to the relationship here, not the vampire), before they kill you!
Saturn with the Sun reduces your confidence in following your ideas and inspirations. Saturn reminds you of what can go wrong and brings out your fears.
In Scorpio, this is emphasized by our feelings of vulnerability, and an awareness of suppression or wounds suffered from authority figures in your life.
I have a friend who is enduring an abusive management style at work. Needless to say, she feels vulnerable, nervous, and insecure.
Scorpio’s Immense Emotional Strength
The sign of Scorpio, being a water sign, goes within to find it’s strength. And being one of the signs full of “know-how,” figures out how to heal from emotional pain and trauma (often after descending to the depths of hell first). This is why Scorpio is alternately symbolized by the phoenix bird that rises from the ashes.
Whatever house in your birth chart that is ruled by the sign of Scorpio, the affairs of this house will be undergoing this process.
Oh, goody, huh?
Scorpio is a sign with a “live and let live” attitude being a gentle feminine sign.
However, it’s also ruled by Mars, and is famous for it’s “sting.” (I’m referring to the other Scorpio symbol, the scorpion). When necessary, Scorpio will use it’s Mars-ruled stinger to defend itself or it’s loved ones.
Mars, the lord of Scorpio, is adding strength to the planets in Scorpio, and will give us the inner strength necessary to effectively deal with situations like what my friend is going through at work (she’s looking for another, better, job).
We’re having fun planning her stinging parting words on the day she leaves her current job (not that she actually would say the things we’re having fun thinking up right now, but it helps to imagine doing it).
Mars is about strength of character, and whatever house in your birth chart that is ruled by Capricorn, Aries, and Scorpio, is where you will be most focused and assertive.
The work you do in these areas of life will contribute to your emotional security in an insecure world.
The Full Moon in the Nakshatra of Bharani
The full Moon on November 6th is in the nakshatra of Bharani. Bharani’s symbol is the yoni, the female sex organ, and the ruling planet of Bharani is Venus.
Well, Venus is not in such good shape right now as I mentioned above, but Bharani is a combination of Mars and Venus energy, the union of the masculine and feminine, reflecting Bharani’s creative potential.
Get out that journal I’m always talking about and write out your feelings. Write letters to people you hate, then have a bonfire and burn them. This is just for you to get the poison out of your system (Bharani is associated with fire and poison).
The New Moon in the Nakshatra of Visakha
The new Moon will be on November 22nd in the nakshatra of Visakha. This nakshatra is named the “star of purpose” and is sometimes represented by an image of a large tree with spreading branches providing protection for others. It is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of purpose.
The Moon is weak in the sign of Scorpio and is with Saturn, as well as the Sun and Mercury. You may feel a sense of separation from your friends and family (Mercury), and that you are not living up to your “potential” in your career (the Sun).
Sigh, it’s that time of year. Saturn is leaving the sign of Scorpio on December 24th, not to return until November 2041, so we won’t have to deal with the double-whammy of Saturn being with the Moon in Scorpio again next year at this time. Thank, God!
Turn to the houses ruled by Jupiter, Sagittarius and Pisces in your birth chart, as well as the house ruled by Leo where Jupiter is currently transiting, and see how they connect to your purpose, and therefore, your happiness.
This will help you to connect to your enthusiasm, faith, optimism, and hope for the future. The mansion of Visakha promises that in spite of how weak and alone you may feel at times, you will overcome any weakness of mind and be much stronger emotionally as a result.
Set your intentions for the significations of those houses in your birth chart, just don’t try to take on too much at one time (Jupiter), and Visakha will give you the patience, persistence, and determination to accomplish any task.
This is also a good time to buy a home, especially with Mars, the planet that rules real estate, aspecting the new moon in Scorpio.
Whew! After the dark and difficult energy of most of the month, Jupiter comes to the rescue and kicks off the end-of-the-year holiday season.
Thanksgiving, a major holiday in the U.S., is on November 27th this year. Venus is in Sagittarius, in an easy relationship to Jupiter in Leo, bringing a sense of gratitude, comfort, and pleasure.
Not to mention all the yummy food :-)
May the stars bring you hope, healing, and happiness!
